Policies
The policies below are subject to change at any time.
Deposits
A deposit equal to 50% of the estimated final cost will be due at the time the contract is signed. Work will not begin until this deposit is received. The deposit will be applied to the final cost incurred when the website is ready for launch.
Payment Types
We accept cash, checks, money orders, major credit cards, and PayPal. For payments above $100, we do not accept credit card/PayPal payments. For such larger payments, a significant sum is taken in the form of fees. Checks/money orders should be made payable to Bloated Toe Enterprises and mailed to PO Box 324, Peru, New York 12972.
Credit card payments may be made via telephone, or we can email an invoice to the client; the invoice will include a link to follow in order to complete the secure credit card transaction.
For PayPal payments, we can email a PayPal invoice with payment info and a link to follow for transaction completion.
Copyrights & Credits
All pages of the website will list a copyright in the client's name at page bottom. A design credit linked to BTE Web Design will accompany the copyright credit.
Once the website is completed and final payment has been received by BTE, all website deliverables will become the property of the client. These include images, pages, etc. created or purchased for the client's site.
Portfolio Placement
All websites created by BTE will appear in our portfolio as long as the sites are live. We may choose to remove any live sites from our portfolio at any time.
Website Content
To reduce time and cost to build a website, all content (e.g., text, photos, logos) should be provided by the client.
Text
Text must be free of grammatical and spelling errors. If the client requires text writing/editing, those services will be charged at our current hourly rate.
Photos/Images
Other than simple resizing or cropping, digital photos and images will be used as received from the client. If the client requires photo/image retouching and/or scanning of non-digital photos, those services will be charged at our current hourly rate.
If the client wishes to use stock photos, several websites offer royalty-free photos at reasonable prices (some are free). Two such sites are Fotolia.com and Dreamstime.com. The client may purchase stock photos or BTE can make the purchase and add the cost to the final design price. Please DO NOT simply take photos from other sites. The client must ensure he/she has the legal right to use any chosen photos/images.
If the client requires new photos to be taken, BTE can perform this task for clients within 30 miles of Peru, NY. The associated fee will include mileage to and from the client's location and our current hourly rate for the time spent actually taking pictures. We are not professional photographers, but we will capture quality digital photos of your business for use on your website. At the end of the web design process, when final payment is made, any photos taken will become property of the client.
Maintenance
We provide maintenance as desired and required by the client. Depending on the client's needs, we may provide maintenance on an as-needed basis (charged at our hourly rate), or work out a maintenace plan that includes a specified number of hours per month. Examples of maintenance include:
- Swapping an existing image for a new (digital) one.
- Updating business/company information, such as address and contact information.
- Updating/adding/deleting company event or announcement information.
- Updating pricing and operating hours information.
- Minor site design changes, such as changing a font or font color.
- Checking site for invalid external links.
